How to opt out of interest-based ads on your Smartphone.

There are few things In this world that are certain...  A) you're surrounded with Oxygen and B) Advertisers are watching you.

All major cell phone companies and smartphone platforms including AndroidiPhone have ways of tracking what we do and view on our phones and use that info for advertisers.  Why should we give that info up, when we are not getting paid. Thankfully, we can put an end to this.  It’s relatively easy to opt out of much of the ad tracking that goes on behind the scenes, and I'm going to tell you exactly what you need to do.

Android Devices

  1. On the Android device, open Settings
  2. Tap Accounts & sync (this may vary, depending on your device)
  3. Locate and tap on the Google listing
  4. Tap Ads
  5. Tap the check box for Opt out of interest-based ads
  6. If you're extra paranoid, you can also tap Reset advertising ID to reset the ID

iPhone and iPad

  1.      Open the Settings app
  2.      Scroll down and tap Privacy
  3.      Scroll to the bottom and tap Advertising
  4.      Next to Limit Ad Tracking, slide the toggle to the right to enable this feature
  5.      Underneath the Limit Ad Tracking option, tap Reset Advertising Identifier… and then tap Reset Identifier on the pop-up (this will sever any ties between your device and any profiles you may already have with advertisers)

Windows Phone

Unlike iOS and Android devices, the easiest way to opt out of ad tracking on Windows Phone devices is to visit this page from your computer:

This is just a minuscule preventative that you can take control on your device.
